I’ve not mastered the art of Astrology yet, but I’m following lots of people who already have it down. What I have picked up, and really wanted to talk about are the more general aspects of this full moon, how it might be affecting our emotions & what we are being guided towards.
First, this beautiful image is of a Lion, with wonderful golden energy shining through, which has always made me feel that Leo was a very masculine sign with the golden energy of the sun, that radiates through our heart centre. Courageous, brave, strong, proud, loyal and self-assured are all words that come to mind when I think of the lion, but recently I heard that the Leo energy is also very much connected to the inner child. It does make sense when you think about it – the playful big cat must at times be very much like a child, which prompts us to consider – what aspects of our inner child are we nurturing, and what perhaps needs a little more attention? Have you done anything fun recently? Something you used to love to do? How could you add more fun to your day-to-day life? What does your heart crave? Have you neglected the very thing you may have felt at one time that you were born to do?
If we neglect our inner child, our repressed feelings can surface in other ways – which sooner or later we will have to face. Perhaps you suffered as a child, and those feelings are now coming to the surface? The Full Moon has a habit of shining a big strong light on all those things we’ve left in the dark and tried to ignore. Perhaps now is the time to take another look? Are you feeling brave?
Another way to look at this is that the moon is also shining on your heart – so why not think about what your deepest desire is?
My darling friend, Georgina and I have recently started a goddess circle and it has been one of the most delicious and uplifting things I have done in a long while. In the days approaching the Full Moon we gathered to celebrate, hold space for one another and honour the profound healing that happens when women come together in this way. This is something that has been sorely neglected, and left wounds deep within women all around the world. So if you are reading this, and it resonates with you, then please reach out – you are not alone!
So for those of us who don’t have a support network and who might be feeling as though they need a little more feminine energy in their lives I will share with you a little from our gathering, and hopefully through that you will feel it too.
We start the circle by giving thanks, and welcoming each other. Thank you dear reader too, for joining in! This session was very much about digging deep within to find out what we might be holding on to that was time to release, particularly given the energies of the Leo Full Moon as described above. Is there anything in particular you feel ready to release? Send it all back to the universe – for sometimes it hurts us if we hold on to something that is no longer meant for us.
The Full Moon is also a time for gratitude and reflection. What are you grateful for? It can be anything, even the smallest thing, like having a fresh coffee in the morning, the cat curling up on your lap in the evening, a kind word from a friend or colleague, that wonderful instagram post that just spoke straight to your heart…
If you have a notebook, write them down – or as my co-host @georginabulpettcoaching says, we can also imagine them in our mind’s eye. It is all very therapeutic, especially if you have some incense burning and a flickering candle nearby while soft meditation music plays in the background.
We also talk about the Goddess, and each circle is related to a different Goddess. Did you know that the Goddess is very much aligned to the Moon? In fact the Goddess Symbol – also known as the Triple Goddess Symbol, is the moon in three phases, Waxing Crescent, Full Moon & Waning Crescent. This session – in alignment with the Leo Full Moon, it was the Goddess Nike who was present.
The Goddess Nike is the Goddess of Victory. She was victorious in leading the chariots of Zeus in the battle of the Titans, for Mount Olympus. Often depicted with beautiful wings and a Laurel Wreath crown. Following her victory, she appeared often with both Zeus and Athena, and was the Goddess the Ancient Greeks prayed to for Speed and Strength in order to achieve Victory. Both Nike and the Laurel wreath today are featured on the Olympic medal, one of the greatest symbols of victory.
The Laurel Wreath is given in honour of Apollo – for whom the Laurel tree is most sacred. As the story goes, his true love Daphne, at her own wish was transformed into a Laurel tree – also known as the Bay Tree. Ever since the bay leaves were used to crown the victorious in honour of Apollo and they became a great symbol of prosperity – for whenever the Kings, Champions and Gladiators won, they would profit and gain material wealth.
The Bay Leaf also has medicinal properties, and as a tea can be used to treat an cleanse the Liver. So if you’d like to honour Nike & Apollo during this Full Moon, why not burn some Bay Leaves, to cleanse your home and invite prosperity into your life?
